Today for Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for…

I love college football. It is one of my favorite things about Fall. I love waking up late, putting on my UGA sweatshirt and plopping on the couch with a bag of potato chips and Diet Coke. Sometimes I make nachos or buffalo chicken bites-you know, football food-and cheer on my Dawgs to victory.
I can remember the sound of Larry Munson’s voice on the radio and the comfort it brought because that sound meant I was where I was supposed to be. I can hear his voice today [on recordings, of course] and it brings back memories.
Football brought my family together growing up. It brings friends together on Saturdays. It gives us something to follow and obsess over love. I can remember playing in softball tournaments all day on Saturday and someone in the bleachers would be listening to the Georgia game and giving us all updates on the score. Then in between games, we would all go to the parking lot and hang out in the bed of Dad’s truck with the radio turned up. I remember watching on TV on lazy Saturdays and the whole family screaming when they would score.
If you couldn’t tell, I am a Georgia fan. Born and raised. And I am thankful for that. I am thankful for how football brings my family together and gives me something to follow and look forward to. Plus, I just love football. [I just wish Georgia could have gone all the way last year-so close!]
