7 Date Ideas for Rainy Days

7 Date Ideas for Rainy Days

Well, April is almost over. Did you have tons of rain? We always say “April Showers bring May Flowers” but really all of spring is rainy in most parts of the country. I have to be honest… I love rain. I love watching rain storms and witnessing the power of our God first hand. I love walking, running, dancing, singing, kissing and whatever else I want to do in the rain.

But I am sure if I lived somewhere where it rained all the time, I would feel differently. I might feel about rain what I currently feel about snow: hate. I know most people aren’t as crazy about rain as I am no matter where they live. So today I want to share some date ideas to make the rain a little less depressing

  • ONE || Go camping in your living room.

This is something Pearson and I actually do quite often. Maybe a couple times a year. Most recently, we did it this weekend with a little help from Date Box (aff)!

This month’s date box was full of goodies for a camp out in our living room and I couldn’t have been more excited when I opened it!

We had s’mores gear complete with supplies to make our own campfire scent candles. And a tortilla soup mix that was so yummy!

I pulled out our guest bedroom mattress and had everything set up waiting for Pearson to get home on Saturday so we could have as much time to spend on our date as possible.

I melted the wax and set the candles, put the soup on the stove, and texted Pearson the RedBox code so he could pick up our free movie (included in the Date Box) on the way home.

We ate the soup in the cute campfire mugs while we read through the “Adventure” booklet. It was so much fun to reminisce about the adventures we’ve had together and dream about all the adventures in our future.

We had decided to rent The Big Short from Red Box so we put it in and started assembling our s’mores.

We slept on the mattress in the living room Saturday night after the movie was over. And we slept there Sunday night and Monday night too! The last time we did that was at Christmas time so it was about time again. Technically it wasn’t raining outside when we had our indoor campout, but that would be a perfect time! • TWO || Have an indoor picnic.

Sometimes you just really want to have a picnic, right? But it’s raining. Or it’s too cold. Or it’s snowing. We’ve only ever done this a couple times (unless you count our indoor camp outs as picnics too), but it’s just fun to switch things up and eat on the floor sometimes, you know?
Sorry for the blurry pictures. They’re old. From before I knew how to take good pics.

  • THREE || Go for a run in the rain.

Tell me I’m not the only one who loves running/dancing/playing in the rain. Forget your cares and get out there with your spouse. Goof off and make memories!

  • FOUR || Have a coffee date.

Or an ice cream date if coffee isn’t your thing. If you’re tired of being stuck inside in the rain, then make an excuse to get out!

  • FIVE || Read a book together

This is something we normally do in the car on a road trip. The passenger will read aloud to the driver. We’ve also read books about marriage together like this. Especially before we were married as part of our “pre-marital counseling.” But why not extend that to any type of book. On a rainy afternoon, instead of vegging in front of the TV, pull out a fun fiction novel and get engrossed in the story together.

  • SIX || Have a game night

Play board games, card games, or video games. Make it interesting. Loser does dishes for a week or gives the other one a back massage. You can have fun even though it’s raining!

  • SEVEN || Reminisce

One of my favorite things to do with Pearson is reminisce about old times. We’ll go through our Facebook profiles and talk about all our fun memories from college. You could also watch your wedding video or at least listen to your wedding CD and look through your pictures. We haven’t done this in along time. And what better backdrop than a downpour outside your window?

You see? Rainy days aren’t so bad. Especially if you get to spend them with your sweetie! What would you add to my list? Thanks for reading!
