Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

I have decided to try something in 2013… Thankful Thursdays. I am a week behind. I hope you will forgive me. Anyway, this week I am thankful for…..

The Internet

The internet is a wonderful thing.

With social networking, email, and instant messaging on the internet, we are able to keep up with friends and family who are miles away. And we can get in touch with them in a matter of seconds.

We can do tons of shopping with our finger tips without leaving the house. Online shopping is a beautiful thing, if you are smart about it.

The internet is useful to find information if you want to expand your knowledge on a certain topic. This can be used in research for a school project or just something you are interested in or something a lot of people seem to be talking about or, most importantly, proving someone wrong.

Speaking of something a lot of people seem to be talking about, I get my news on the internet. Current events are at our fingertips. Someone posts something on Facebook or in their blog about a shooting in Connecticut and suddenly the whole world knows what is going on. We can look up news articles from all over the world.

If you wish to, you can travel across the world while sitting at your computer. Or laying in bed on your phone/tablet for that matter. With Google maps, you can see the whole world and with the news articles I talked about before plus encyclopedias, photos, and videos, you can see a lot of the culture of a particular place right in front of you.

If you want to learn a new hobby or learn to do something better, there are tons of tutorials and instructional videos out there for just about anything your heart would ever want to learn.

And last but not least, music. There is tons of music out there to buy or stream. You can pretty much find anything you want to listen to or find new music around every corner. No more hearing something on the radio and going to the store to buy the CD (or cassette as it were back in the day). Just look it up on Itunes, spotify, pandora or plenty of other options.

Therefore, I am thankful for the internet. Quite frankly, I do not know what I would do without it.

Thanks for reading.
