Newlyweds, Traveling, & a Harding Graduate!

Newlyweds, Traveling, & a Harding Graduate!

I have another very special post today… I want to introduce all you wonderful readers to my two fabulous ‘Buckeyes’ sponsors for this month! I asked them both a few questions so you could get to know them a little better.

Amanda from Notes from a Newlywed just got married in June, but she and her husband dated for 8 years before they got married! I can relate…

  1. What traditions are you looking forward to this holiday season? I’m most looking forward to just celebrating each holiday as a wife. It sort of takes everything to this next level. Since my family lives so far away, we spend most holidays with my husband’s family, and while they’ve always accepted me with open arms, I still just feel so much better about being official now. I’m in. It also makes me an official aunt, and so I took buying Christmas presents more seriously. We’re also sending out our first Christmas photo card as “The Hoflands,” and I love it!
  2. If you could quit your job for 3 months and have all your responsibilities taken care of what would you do? Oh and money is not an object. Oh gosh. So much! First I’d travel a bit. My husband didn’t travel much growing up like I did, and I want him to experience more cultures and parts of the world. My first stop would be Roswell because I’m a little bit obsessed with aliens. Then Savannah because I hear it’s so pretty, plus I really want to dine at Paula’s restaurants. Then to London because it was my favorite international city so far and I’m dying to go back. Then lastly, to Australia and New Zealand. After our travels, I would want to do as much as I could with animals. My far-out dream is to open a kitty hotel, so I could use that time to start a business plan. Or, just go around to various rescues and shelters and volunteer my time, maybe do some grant writing, some petitioning, political actions, just be an activist. And of course, throughout that whole time, blog about everything!
  3. What is your favorite holiday food or drink? It’s gotta be Paula Deen’s pumpkin cheesecake. I make it every year, and it is so easy and delicious, and is always a hit.

  1. What traditions are you looking forward to this holiday season? One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is the post-Thanksgiving sandwich. To get rid of the leftovers the next day, we put turkey, dressing and cranberry relish on a thick roll and sear it. It’s a perfect way to finish off leftovers. Also, I always watch “Gone With the Wind” on New Year’s Day; I never tire of Scarlet’s antics.
  2. If you could quit your job for 3 months and have all your responsibilities taken care of what would you do? Oh and money is not an object.  I would travel of course! The next destinations on my bucket list are Iceland, Norway/Sweden/Denmark and Germany. I think three months would be the perfect length of time to visit all of those countries.
  3. What is your favorite holiday food or drink? My favorite holiday food would have to be turkey and dressing. Oh and squash casserole and throw in a sweet potato casserole while you’re at it.
