Happy October! It’s my favorite month of the year!!!
To celebrate Crocktober and this giveaway, I thought I’d share with you a recipe my mom passed down to me that is just fantastic. She and I both use this Crock-Pot Lasagna when we’re having company over because one- it makes a lot of food and two- you can assemble it the night before and it can cook all day in the crock-pot while you clean your house and get ready for your guests in other ways. Then all you have to do is add a salad and some bread and you’re good to go. So lets get to it, shall we?
Ingredients:
- 2 lb of ground beef (I used ground sirloin here but you can use whatever kind you want)
- 1 45 oz jar of spaghetti sauce (I’ve found Prego to be the only brand with this big of a jar. Also, I like meat flavored sauce but use whatever kind you like)
- 1 box of oven ready lasagna (I don’t ever use the whole box. Also, be sure it’s the oven ready kind)
- Ricotta Cheese (I don’t use a lot at all)
- About 3 C of shredded mozzarella cheese
- About 1.5 C of shredded parmesan cheese
- 15 slices of mozzarella cheese (for sandwiches – about 2 packages)
- [not pictured] your favorite frozen garlic bread – or make your own
- [not pictured] your favorite salad makings
- [not pictured] optional grated parmesan to serve on top
Directions:
- Noodles – you can break them to make them fit
- Ricotta cheese – spread it real thin on top of the noodles (this is always the hardest part for me)
- Slices of mozzarella – 5 fit pretty perfectly for me
- Shredded mozzarella – I do 3 or 4 handfuls
- Parmesan cheese – I sprinkle enough to cover the mozzarella
- Meat/Sauce mixture – A generous amount – I did about 5 big spoonfuls per layer
- Noodles
- Sliced mozzarella
- Parmesan
P.S. I’m running an ad sale for the whole month of October because it’s my favorite month. Visit my sponsor page, pick any ad spot, and use promo code OCTOBERSALE for 31% off through October 31st.

October is finally here which means Fall is (hopefully) in the air, life is getting busy, and everyone is getting ready to bust out their slow cookers for the cooler weather. Stephanie from Sustaining the Powers celebrates “Crocktober” with an entire month of slow cooker recipes, so we’re joining together to help her kick it off with a Crocktober Starter Pack Giveaway. Included is a fancy programmable slow cooker, some slow cooker liners (the best invention ever) and a $100 visa gift card for groceries!
This looks really wonderful. I do think spaghetti squash is a great option for enjoying traditional noodle dishes on a grain-free diet. Thanks for posting this on Food Flicks Friday.
Thanks! And yes spaghetti squash is a great option!
I am always looking for new recipes to try. I will have to get the ingredients I need to make some this week. I am sure it will be a big hit.
I hope you enjoy it! It’s one of my favorites!
