Well guys, this election has been an interesting one, hasn’t it? That much is for sure. I have paid more attention to what is going on in this election more than any other in the past. Admittedly, that could be because I’m older and more mature than I ever have been during a past election (funny how time works like that). But I also think that is just the nature of this election. We have some interesting choices in candidates and I’m on the edge of my seat with how this thing is going to turn out.
So today for Thankful Thursday, I want to talk about our right to vote. A lot of us had the opportunity to vote in our state’s primary elections this month. Some states did it in February and some will do it in April. But the point is, all American citizens 18 and older had or will have the opportunity to vote. And I really hope you took advantage of that!
Y’all, the right to vote is such a wonderful freedom we have. I’ve taken that right for granted in the past and I’m so ashamed of that now. This country isn’t perfect. I’ll give you that. But at least the people have a voice! At least we have a say.
You know what really grinds my gears? When someone worries and complains about the future of our country and then doesn’t vote. They say their vote doesn’t really matter. But you have that right! You have some say. Even if it is a small say. And my goodness you can not complain about the outcome if you didn’t do anything about it! Besides if everybody that has this attitude actually voted, the results could be so different! So just do it!
Anyway, I didn’t mean to get that ranty. Oops. The point of this post is, today for Thankful Thursday, I’m thankful for my right to vote.
Did you vote in your primaries? I sure hope so.
