Well guys, as of last week, it is now officially summer. And it feels like it to, am I right? One of our favorite things to do in the summer is grill burgers. I’ll be honest, I like grilling for dinner because Pearson likes to grill. And that means I can get out of making dinner.

But it also means I’m not heating up the apartment with a hot oven or stove. And it also means we can enjoy fresh, in season, veggies on our burgers. And burgers, or really anything grilled, just feels and tastes like summer, right? Firing up the grill and enjoying a delicious burger in our own home just screams summer and no school and no worries and warm weather and thunderstorms to me.

Luckily, Giant Eagle gets this. I mean they really do. They’re celebrating a summer of grilling. They have everything you need as the go-to headquarters for grilling this summer. There’s no reason to go anywhere else. Get your main dish, all sides, drinks, desserts, and even charcoal, kerosene, and propane.

Pearson decided that for our date night this week we would grill some delicious burgers. Since he was going to work late on Friday (he got home at 3:00 am…), we decided to shoot for Saturday. So after I got off work on Friday, I headed to Giant Eagle and was shocked at the variety of grilling supplies!

I got four delicious looking Gourmet Seasoned Beef Burgers, made with Certified Angus Beef. These were in the case at the back of the store in the meat section. I had to ask the person behind the counter for four patties and he weighted them and put a bar code on them. I’ve never done this before for burgers but (spoiler alert) they were delicious and I will be doing it again in the future (but maybe I’ll try a different variety)!

I picked up some Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and Vlasic Pickles for our burgers from this convenient display in the meat department.

I added some Pepperidge Farm whole wheat buns to my basket. This display was just a few feet away from the condiments.

And all I had to do was walk a little further to find Tostitos chips and salsa. So of course, I had to get some to go with our delicious burgers.

I also got some Kraft cheese in the refrigerator section. As well as some lettuce, a tomato, and an onion from the produce. And some steak sauce and hamburger seasoning from other displays in the back of the store. For dessert I got Breyer’s Thin Mint ice cream from the frozen section. And some delicious Lipton ready to drink tea to wash everything down. Oh and, of course some foam plates and paper napkins because ain’t nobody got time to wash dishes, am I right?

I was ready for our date and I got it all in one place! Because Pearson worked so late on Friday night (aka Saturday morning), he slept in till about 11:00 and, thank goodness, he didn’t have to go in to work! So we spent the whole day together which hasn’t happened in a long time. We did some cleaning around the apartment and even ran some errands. Then we got ready to grill some burgers!

First, before grilling, I put some steak sauce and seasoning on both sides of the patties. This is something I do every time we grill burgers no matter what meat we get. It’s delicious.

While Pearson, grilled the burgers, I sliced the tomato and onion and put all the condiments on a foam plate so they would be easy to access, wouldn’t take up too much room on the table, and I wouldn’t have to wash a dish.

Isn’t he a cutie? Pearson added the cheese to the burger patties during the last few seconds on the grill so it would melt all nice.
To stack my burger, I first spread ketchup on the bun then put the patty, a tomato slice, two pickle slices and shredded iceberg lettuce. Yum!!!
For Pearson’s burger, he skipped the sauces and just stacked a patty with a leaf of romaine lettuce, and some onion slices. It’s almost funny how different we are when it comes to food. And I was still able to get everything each of us wanted at Giant Eagle!

Our dinner was delicious and we enjoyed a relaxing summer evening. Unfortunately, it was too hot to stay on the patio for very long but it was still a great night.
