Making Memories (#LoveBlog2017 – Giveaway & Linkup)

I’m hosting #LoveBlog2017 again today and the prompt is “Memories.” Check out Brita’s introduction post to see all the prompts and rules.

Making memories with my husband is my favorite thing to do! Another thing I like to do with him is reminisce on those memories. For today’s Love Blog challenge, I thought I’d share some of my favorite memories with you.

Our First Date:

On June 11, 2006, Pearson asked me to go on a date with him. We were 16. A few days later we went to the mall and saw the movie Cars. Pearson was under the impression that he wasn’t allowed to date util he was 18 so we invited one of our friends along. Poor Erin. Talk about a third wheel. It turns out though that his parents’ rule was that he couldn’t “car date” until he was 18. Meaning they were fine with dropping him off at the mall or somewhere to meet me. Pearson and I held hands through the whole movie and my arm fell asleep. It was pretty painful but I was not going to let go even if my life depended on it.

Our First Kiss:

A month or two after our first date, our youth group had a “lock in” (an over-night event) at Malibu Grand Prix (go-carts, mini golf, arcade etc). Everything was really awkward because people were pressuring us to kiss and there were rumors going around. You know how teenagers are. But we went out on the putt-putt course when nobody was round and kissed. Turns out, we were being followed and spied on and that guy ran back and told everybody. But it wasn’t so bad. It was actually a proud moment for me.

Going to college together:

Pearson and I went to Harding University in Arkansas, nine hours away from home. We made lots of memories in college, but one of my favorites was when we drove there together to move there for the first time. We followed both of our parents who were dropping us off. We had a blast and were just so genuinely excited about starting school!

When Pearson proposed:

Fun fact, we got engaged in the same place we had our first kiss. That’s right, Pearson took me back to Malibu Grand Prix on July 30, 2011 to ask me to marry him. The whole story is here, but in short, he included both of our whole families and friends from college who I thought I invited. Nope. I was completely surprised!

Our Wedding:

Of course our wedding is one of my favorite memories. Is that a cop-out answer? Here is our wedding series and here is a series about my wedding planning process. It was seriously the best day of my life even though I hate how cheesy that sounds.

Our Honeymoon:

Again, of course our honeymoon is one of my favorite memories. I loved being in The Bahamas and not having a schedule and being able to sleep in and relax and have full freedom of whatever we wanted to do all day. That was much needed after planning and executing the wedding of the century! (I kid, of course). Anyway, I loved our cozy condo that was gifted to us by my uncle. And, most of all I loved spending an entire week with my new husband and no responsibilities. Here is detailed blog post about the honeymoon.

Moving to Ohio:

Despite how much I dislike this city and the cold and rain. And how much I hate moving and starting over. And how tough it was to move away from everybody we knew just two weeks after getting married. And how much of a pain moving always is in general. I still loved pretty much every minute of it. I loved road tripping with my new husband and talking about our future in Columbus. I loved picking up the keys to our first home. I loved setting up our new home. I loved shopping for things for our new home. I loved exploring our new city. All of it.

So those are just a few of the big memories. I could add all of our travels (like NYC and California) and other fun adventures, but I think this post would get too long. Besides, I’ve blogged about most of our great memories already. Here’s to making many more!
