Monthly Goals for October {2017}

Monthly Goals for October {2017}

OCTOBER!!! It’s October! Yay yay yay!! My favorite month of the year! Not only is it fall and Halloween and everything, but Pearson and I are planning to use this month as a reset month. Monetarily and healthily. Anyway, I’m excited. So let’s get started on my monthly goals post.

September:

Word of the Year (confidence):

  • Not work myself so hard. Spread out my to-do lists and schedule my tasks (including self-care and workouts).
    • I did NOT do well with this one. I got really overwhelmed with the youth rally (more below) and planning for our trip etc. It was a rough month for my mental health. haha

Spiritual:

  • Attend Church every Sunday and Wednesday this month.
  • Complete this 31 Days of Prayers for your Spouse challenge
  • Finish working through the devotional, Becoming One by Madison Weaver
  • Read Muddling Through Again by Lee Haugen Long
  • Bonus:
    • I completely forgot to mention this in my September goals post but I taught a high school girls class at a youth rally that my church put on! That involved lots of planning and preparing which means I was digging into The Word a lot all month and that I learned a lot at the rally! So even though I didn’t meet most of my other spiritual goals, this is a pretty big one.

Physical:

  • Do a Beachbody on Demand workout at least 3X per week
    • I did about 1x per week. Better than I had been.
  • Walk on my lunch break at least 3X per week
    • I did about 1x per week. Better than I had been.
  • Get out of bed by 7:00 am at least 3X per week
    • I did about 1x per week. Better than I had been.
  • Drink 80 oz of water per day
  • Don’t go through any drive throughs this month.

Mental:

  • Read Laugh It Up! by Candace Payne (I’m part of the launch team for this)
  • Read Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
    • Write down 3 things I’m thankful for everyday
      • Listen to at least three episodes of the One Extraordinary Marriage podcast per week on my commute to and from work.

      Marriage:

      • Work through Sheila’s Boost Your Libido eCourse
      • Go on one date per week even though Pearson will be super busy in September.

      Blog:

      • Reach 2,000 Twitter followers
      • Watch all of Helene’s free Instagram Workshop videos
      • Post at least one good-quality, content-based blog post (lists, roundups, and sponsored posts don’t count) every week
      • Bonus:
        • I also updated about 30 old posts for SEO. It took taking this item off my goals list to make it happen
        • I also worked a lot on my pinterest game this month. I repinned all the posts I updated and I pinned a lot of other content that I didn’t write. Including some Dating Divas stuff. And I deleted some old pins.
        • I also scheduled all my posts about fall to be shared in the next few months on all my social media channels.

      Home:

      • Light at least one candle every day to make it feel cozy
        • I am pretty sure I didn’t miss a single day!
      • Switch out my summer clothes for sweaters and boots
      • Do the #Shelftember challenge with Jordan of funcheaporfree.com
        • We didn’t really follow this so well. We don’t have a separate freezer, we live in a small apartment, and we tried not to buy any groceries in the second half of August. So my shelves were not prepared. But I learned a lot by following and we actually did a pretty good job of this in my book. I stocked my freezer in the first half of the month and cleaned it out through the second!

      30×30:

      • Do a French lesson on DuoLingo 3X per week
      • Only eat out on weekends
        • Actually save some money this month in preparation for our vacation and move in January
So that’s how I did in September. At a glance it looks like I didn’t do very well but on most things I did better than I had been doing. For example, I set goals to do several things 3x per week and I actually did it once per week. That’s better than the zero times per week I had been doing before.

Anyway, let’s move on to what I want to do in October. I’m going to lessen my monthly goals for the rest of the year as we get ready for graduation, vacation, and moving!

        October:

        Word of the Year (confidence):

        • I feel like most of my other goals for this month will help with my confidence: Working out, eating well, getting organized for our trip etc. So maybe from now on my goal for confidence should be “Meet at least 50% of my other goals”? haha

        Spiritual:

        Physical:

        • Do a Beachbody on Demand workout at least 3X per week
        • Walk on my lunch break at least 3X per week

        Mental:

        Marriage:

        Blog:

        • Post at least one good-quality, content-based blog post (lists, roundups, and sponsored posts don’t count) every week
        • Promote the upcoming HOLIDAY BUNDLE (aff) that I have some content in!

        Home:

        • Light at least one candle every day to make it feel cozy

        30×30:

        • Do a French lesson on DuoLingo 3X per week

        Preparing for graduation/vacation/move:

        • Book our Disney Trip
        • Buy 2 of the gifts I’m giving Pearson for graduation
        • Contact people we will be visiting on our road trip
        • Start packing things in boxes that we don’t need before our move
        • List Pearson’s car to be sold
        • Some other things on our to-do lists that I don’t want to disclose here
So there you have it. Less goals than usual in the usual categories and quite a bit in the graduation/vacation/move category. Also, what should I call that category? That seems really long.
Also, we need a hashtag for all of that. I guess I can just use different hashtags for all of that. I don’t know. Give me suggestions! #MaugerisOregonTrail? #MaugerisFinishGradSchool? #MaugerisAtDisneyWorld? #MaugerisMakeMagic (thanks to Brita for this suggestion)? Something totally different?
        • So what are your goals for October? Let me know some of your biggest goals in the comments.

        1. I'm soooo behind in my blog reading. I spent an hour and a half today reading and commenting on blogs. So now that we're halfway through October, let me read your goals! 😉

Anyway, I can already congratulate you on promoting the Dating Divas bundle! I bought it (it went to my personal email in case you didn't see my name), and I'm super-excited for the practical printables.

I've also embraced the candle-lighting goal for myself, although I often just use my wax warmers instead. Turning on my wax warmer is one of the first things I do each day!

        2. Thanks, Brita! I am so far behind on blog reading… Thanks so much for purchasing the bundle! Did you get the freebie? And I'm so glad you've been using your wax warmer! It really makes all the difference in how cozy the home feels!
