Confession: I am finishing this post on August 6th. I’m going to back date it because I don’t want to go looking for this post in the future and not be able to find it. I read/watched/listened to all this in July but I just haven’t gotten around to writing the reviews.
Anyway, July was a pretty crazy month. My grandmother passed away so we flew to Arkansas for the funeral. Then we took a trip to celebrate our anniversary. I didn’t get a whole lot of reading, watching, or listening done. We only saw one Movie Pass movie together and then I saw one by myself. Anyway, here’s what I thought of the media I did consume. Oh! Also, I decided to add star ratings to these from now on.
Table of Contents
Books:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte – 5/5 stars
Then this one thing happened and I got really angry at one of the characters. And I thought the story was going to go a certain way and I got sort of mad at Jane herself too. But it turns out Jane is a fantastic and strong woman after all!
So I started enjoying the book again and thinking Jane was the hardcore woman that she is. But then I realized I didn’t really want this life to be all there was to Jane’s story. I still had a lot more of the book to read so I figured this wasn’t going to be all there was to the rest of Jane’s story. Then a couple crazy things happened. I mean, I was laying in bed and I very audibly gasped. Pearson wanted to know what was so surprising so I had to try to explain it to him.
But these surprising events led to another decision that Jane had to make and for some reason, I doubted her again. Silly me. But that brings us to the BANG of an ending.
Was that cryptic enough for you? Actually probably not. I was trying not to give too much away and now I’m thinking I might have done just that.
Your Marriage Today… And Tomorrow by Crawford and Karen Loritts – 4/5 stars

TV Shows:
Anne with an E S2 – 5/5 stars
Parks and Rec
Movies:
Ant-Man and The Wasp – 5/5 stars
Waitress (the movie) – 3/4 stars
So when I saw the DVD of the original movie at my library, I decided to give it a shot. And I was disappointed. I guess the music made the show. Not only that but my favorite secondary characters seem played down a lot. I guess that’s what happens when they don’t get their own song. And the bad guy seemed a lot worse in the stage show as well.
Mamma Mia! – 5/5 stars
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – 5/5 stars
Oh and I think it’s worth mentioning that this was the only movie I’ve ever watched in a theater by myself. I would have never done that a year or so ago. It was actually quite liberating!
Listening:
Sara Bareilles
The Avett Brothers
Delta Rae
The Civil Wars
Therapy Thoughts podcast
As I mentioned in my Monthly Goals for August (remember from the confession at the top I’m writing this on August 6th), I am trying to eat intuitively. That is thanks to MindfulCounseling and BodiPosiCounselor on Instagram. Well, Tiff of Mindful Counseling also had a podcast called Therapy Thoughts (she also does little “Therapy thoughts” snippets on Instagram Stories all the time). Anyway, the podcast and her Instagram account have both already changed a lot of my toxic ideas about body image and diet culture. I can’t recommend them enough!
What have you been reading, watching, and listening to lately? Have any recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading!
