Welcome to the June edition of the No Buy Style Challenge (Summer Festival Outfit Inspiration)! I can’t believe it’s June. Is it just me or is this year going by just as fast as the any other year? Having to stay home due to the Coronivirus seems to have no bearing on that!
If you’re new to the No Buy Style Challenge, here’s a quick recap. 3 other awesome bloggers and I decided to do a fashion collaboration on our blogs. Each month, one of us provides the other three with an outfit photo for inspiration. Then the other bloggers recreate the outfit with our own twist using only items we already have in our closet!
June is my turn to provide for the inspiration for the No Buy Style Challenge so I shared the above image with Brita, Liz, and Callie.
June means summer. And for me, having lived in the Portland, Oregon area for the past two summers, June means festival season. I’m not talking about fancy, fashion-forward, Coachella-type festivals. I’m talking fun and quirky festivals, parades, and parties in Portland. So I chose a Summer Festival Outfit Inspiration for the No Buy Style challenge in June.
Unfortunately, a lot of the festivals are either cancelled or at least postponed this year due to the Coronavirus. The annual Rose Festival has been postponed indefinitely. The UFO has been postponed to September. And the Oregon Brewers Festival has been completely cancelled.
But that won’t stop me from rocking comfy rompers and Chaco this summer. That is, if it ever warms up here. Seriously, it’s been barely getting up to the 60s here lately. But don’t get me wrong, I am NOT complaining! Portland weather is perfect for me. It may seem dreary for some but it never gets too extreme in either direction. Winters stay typically in the 40s and summers only get up to the high 80s/low 90s for maybe a week total. It’s awesome!
I decided to wear my Harry Potter jewelry with this “festival inspired” outfit because Portland actually usually hosts several “Harry Potter” themed festivals and events every year. We actually haven’t been to one here yet, but I can’t wait to see them once things open back up!
And lastly, I have to talk about these shoes for a second. Ever since I knew Chacos were a thing, I was truly averse to them. I think that’s mostly due to the fact that people at Harding University (my alma mater) wore then ironically. In Searcy, Arkansas we weren’t doing a ton of watersports or hiking etc. So when people wore Chacos all over campus, they became “posers” in my mind.
But now I live in the Portland, Oregon area, and I hike a lot. And last summer I did some watersports on the various rivers that run through the area. And most importantly, I found some cheap Chacos at Sierra Trading Posts last year. They were my size, the perfect color, and the exact type of Chaco I would buy. So, I’m a Chaco convert!

So do you typically celebrate fun summer festivals in your home town? Do you wear something comfortable to these events or go all out fashion-wise?
Join us in this challenge! Post an outfit you created with only items you already have in your closet and use the hashtag #NoBuyStyleChallenge!
I am all about comfort for summer style! It’s too hot and humid in Georgia to obsess about fashion. Luckily I have plenty of cute tees and tanks to pair with cute shorts.
I totally get that. I DO NOT miss Georgia summers!
I really love this idea of getting inspired to see your old wardrobe in a new way! I’m ready to get out of my social distancing sweats!!!
What a fun challenge! I’d love to do this with friends. I am all for shopping my closet this year.
Super love your style, wow!!! Very summery and so cool!!! Thanks for being such an inspiration.
I pretty much wear easy, breezy dresses all summer. And with covid I’m not even wearing makeup. It’s kind of freeing.
What a great challenge. Not only will it help me save money, but it’ll force me to look in my closet.
Such a cute outfit. I love wearing dresses and now that the weather is good I need to whip them out of my closet. The no buy challenge sounds so cool!
I love comfy clothes in the summer! Your romper is so cute, love it!!!
Love this post! Love chilled summer dresses and over sized Ts, chilled is my vibe hah! I think i may take a look at my wardrobe and try and imagine it in a new way too! awesome
Fun collaboration idea. I may have to try out a pair of Chacos. I’m a Gen Xer, so Tevas have always been my bag. Lol. 😉
this is a great idea, especially right now. thanks for the inspiration
That outfit looks really great on you! It matches the summer vibe well too! I love your sense of fashion!
I was thinking your Portland weather was cold for shorts and no sleeves. Except that in July when I’m in the 90’s and above I will be wishing it was the 60’s! Very cute outfit!
What a fun idea. No buy and reuse what you already have. Great collaboration. Your Portland weather sounds like it’s for me as well. Haven’t visited and good to know about hiking. I’m a big fan.
I loved the outfit, looks very cool and comfortable plus it really suits you well. Thanks for sharing .

That denim color is timeless. I’m all for comfortable sandals–Chacos are one of the best brands. Well worth the money.
This is a perfect festival outfit, denim never gets old. I like your choice of shoes too, definitely perfect for standing up for long times, dancing with your favorite band.
I love rompers! And those shoes are exactly what I have been looking for! We do a ton of hiking and walking through creeks, etc…But I dont have good shoes! Now I will! Thanks for sharing!
